A one-day course which is designed to train experienced engineers in the use of HC refrigerants and the safety measures that are required.

Course content

  • The dangers of working with flammable refrigerants, including health and safety requirements and identification hazards
  • Regulations, codes of practice and industry recommendations for installation, servicing and maintaining, and de-commissioning of flammable refrigeration systems
  • Properties of flammable refrigerants, their advantages and disadvantages and typical applications
  • Understanding the differences between halocarbon and hydrocarbon refrigeration systems including identification of components and system features unique to hydrocarbon systems
  • Plan and prepare for work on flammable refrigeration systems. Risk assessments, appropriate tools and PPE, establishment and up keeping of a safe area
  • Servicing and maintaining flammable refrigeration systems
  • Installing and testing flammable refrigeration systems including leak and strength testing, evacuation and dehydration
  • Re-commissioning procedures for flammable refrigeration systems
  • Safe handling of flammable refrigerants including charging and recovery
  • Safe storage and transportation of flammable refrigerants

 

Suitable for: Experienced refrigeration engineers

Minimum Experience Required
Attendees to hold a Category 1 or Category 2 F-Gas qualification.
