Event Details

If you wish to work on refrigeration, air conditioning and/or heat pump systems this is the minimum legal qualification required. Over 5 days the course will teach you the basic skills and knowledge needed to be able to work on any size of refrigerant based systems. There will be two full days in the classroom covering the theory of system operations, two days of practical lessons followed by one day of assessments. On satisfactory completion of the course you will achieve City & Guilds 2079-11 F-Gas Category 1 qualification.

Course content

  • Course explanation: (The ‘provisional driving licence’)
  • The basic principles of how a system works
  • Common components – what they do and different types
  • Refrigerants – associated hazards, environmental issues and legal responsibilities
  • How systems are controlled, protection devices
  • Typical system operating conditions and performance
  • Introduction to brazing and jointing
  • System procedures – strength / tightness pressure testing
  • Refrigerant handling – evacuation, charging and recovering
  • Leak testing and reduction of leak potential
  • F-Gas assessment

Suitable for: Anyone, no previous formal practical or theoretical training is required.
