Over the 5 days, attendees will gain the skills and knowledge required to safely handle fluorinated gases, enabling them to work on refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump systems of any size containing F-Gases. There will be a day and a half in the classroom covering the theory of system operations, a day and a half of practical lessons followed by two days of assessments (subject to class size).
Prior Learning Course Content:
Delegates are required to review the supplied course notes prior to attending. This pre-course learning will help build an understanding of the key topics covered during the training and support successful course completion.
Course Content
Theory:
The theory element covers the environmental, legislative, and technical principles required for safe refrigerant handling, including:
- Causes and effects of global warming, climate change, and ozone depletion
- Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and Heat Pump system components and their functions
- Refrigerant properties and the vapour compression cycle
- Leakage risks and prevention methods
- Hazards, legislation, and safe working practices when handling refrigerants
- PH charts and efficacy calculations
Practical:
The practical assessment demonstrates competence in:
- Brazing and fabrication of a pipework test piece to industry and assessment standards
- Strength / Pressure testing, and system evacuation
- Charging and commissioning refrigeration systems
- Leak detection using direct and indirect methods
- Connecting and disconnecting service equipment safely
- Recovering refrigerant and recording results
- Completing required documentation and records
- Draining compressor oil safely
Who Should Attend?
This course should NOT be considered as entry-level practical training. It is best suited to those who already have relevant industry experience and understanding of refrigeration systems. Prior to booking the course you will be asked to complete our course prerequisites.
