Over the 2 days, the course will help refresh experienced engineers understand of how to work with refrigerants safely, reduce refrigerant loss to the atmosphere, reduce refrigerant leakage, and ensure systems are operating efficiently. It consists of one day mixing between the classroom and workshop covering the course content, and a day of completing the theory and practical assessments.
Prior Learning Course Content:
Delegates are required to review the supplied course notes prior to attending. This pre-course learning will help build an understanding of the key topics covered during the training and support successful course completion.
Course content
Theory:
The theory element reviews key knowledge required for safe and compliant refrigerant handling, including:
- Environmental impacts of refrigerants
- Causes and effects of global warming and ozone depletion
- Relevant F-Gas legislation and responsibilities
- Refrigeration system components and leakage risks
- Leak checking methods and procedures
- Safe working practices when working with refrigerant systems
Practical:
The practical element covers a refresher and assessment preparation of the following:
- Brazing and fabrication of a pipework test piece to industry and assessment standards
- Strength & l testing, and system evacuation
- Charging and commissioning refrigeration systems
- Leak detection using direct and indirect methods
- Connecting and disconnecting service equipment safely
- Recovering refrigerant and recording results
- Completing required documentation and records
- Draining compressor oil safely
Who Should Attend?
This intensive 2-day course is designed for experienced Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and Heat Pump engineers who already hold an F-Gas Category 1 qualification and need to renew or refresh their knowledge and practical competence in line with current industry standards and legislation.
